AI covers of late music legends: whose "voice" do people search for most?

Americans search for AI-voiced Michael Jackson about 1,150 times a month, more than any other late singer we could cleanly measure. Taylor Swift AI searches alone match all 29 late legends combined.

AI voice models have made it possible to "hear" artists who are no longer alive, and Google data shows which ones people go looking for. We measured US monthly searches for "[artist] AI", "[artist] AI cover" and "[artist] AI song" for 29 late artists. Michael Jackson leads at about 1,150 combined searches a month. Juice WRLD (520), Elvis Presley (490) and Tupac (250) are next, with Ozzy Osbourne (200) and Aaliyah (190) close behind. Prince technically tops the list at 1,620, but the query "prince ai" is ambiguous. Together, the 29 late artists draw about 5,660 searches a month. That is roughly what one living star, Taylor Swift, draws on her own (5,550), which suggests AI-voice curiosity is driven more by current fandom than by nostalgia.

What it means

AI music is now part of the conversation, and people want to know how it stacks up. Curious how one of these hits would sound in a different voice? An AI song cover lets you hear it. If you have a hook of your own, an AI song generator can turn it into a full track with vocals in a few minutes.

Method

  • Source: Google search volume, US, 12-month average (Oct 2025–Sep 2026).
  • For each artist, the volumes of four phrasings were summed: "[artist] ai", "[artist] ai cover", "ai [artist] cover" and "[artist] ai song". Elvis and Elvis Presley were merged, as were Kanye and Kanye West.
  • Long tail: Related Google searches for the seed "ai cover" (US). There are 4,409 related queries; the top 700 were pulled.
