Hanukkah, Diwali, Eid, Lunar New Year: the holiday-song search calendar beyond Christmas

A quiet, softly lit room with subtle decorations from various cultural celebrations.

We tracked worldwide weekly Google searches for "[holiday] songs" across eight festivals for five years. Each festival has its own song-search season that follows its own calendar: Ramadan and Eid songs move about 10 days earlier each year, and Lunar New Year songs follow the lunar calendar. "Christmas songs" is the only one with year-round demand. The geography shows diasporas: Fiji leads "Diwali songs" ahead of India, the Maldives leads "Eid songs", and East African countries lead "Ramadan songs". "Kwanzaa songs" registers in only a few weeks each year, and "Lunar New Year songs" only in Singapore.

What it means

Holiday playlists recycle the same songs every year. The most-searched pick is rarely the most personal one, and a personalized song built around one person's name and story is the version nobody else has. If you have a hook of your own, an AI song generator can turn it into a full track with vocals in a few minutes.

Method

  • Google search interest, worldwide, web search, weekly, past 5 years (Oct 2021–Oct 2026). Each term was queried on its own, so each line is scaled to its own peak; compare timing, not size.
  • English-language query strings.
