Twenty-two years of US Google search data put reggaeton, corridos, bachata, cumbia and "música mexicana" on one scale. All five peaked years ago: reggaeton in 2010, corridos in 2014, bachata in 2013 and cumbia in 2010. All have been roughly flat since 2020, even through the streaming boom of corridos tumbados. The state maps show each genre's home. Bachata is a Northeast genre (New Jersey, Rhode Island, New York), corridos and cumbia are Southwest genres (New Mexico, California, Texas), and reggaeton leads in Florida.

What it means
Genre tastes move, but the urge to try one yourself does not. If you have a hook of your own, an AI song generator can turn it into a full track with vocals in a few minutes. For a soundtrack to your own day, an AI music generator can score it to whatever mood you need.
Method
- Google search interest, US, web search, monthly, Jan 2004–Sep 2026. The five genre terms were queried together (shared scale). State maps from separate 2019 and 2025 queries.
- Wyoming and Kansas are not included in state tables.
