A stadium tour isn't just a concert, it's a local event. We tracked daily US Google searches for "Taylor Swift" in each of 17 states around the first Eras Tour show there in 2023, and compared each state's spike with national interest on the same days. The median host state saw searches reach 6.3x its pre-show baseline over the concert weekend. That's 4.1x more lift than the national trend, so the bump was clearly local. Las Vegas (Nevada) recorded the largest local excess at 8.0x, followed by Seattle (Washington, 7.8x; the show that registered as an earthquake), Minneapolis (Minnesota, 7.2x) and Denver (Colorado, 7.0x). Large states with already-high Swift interest saw smaller multiples: Texas 2.8x, New Jersey 2.3x and California 1.1x, where LA's August shows coincided with national tour-end news.
