Monthly US Google search data back to 2004, with all four genres on one scale, shows "hip hop" led "country music" every month for more than 22 years. In 2012 hip hop averaged 65.9 to country's 12.1. Hip-hop searches then fell steadily, to 14.7 in 2025, while country held between 10 and 13. Country edged ahead in July, August and September 2026 (16 vs 13, 15 vs 13, 14 vs 13). "Pop music" and "rock music" trail both throughout.
